Friday 11 November 2022 – Cheltenham November Meeting – Day 1

13:10

Jump fans, we have made it, the season starts, proper, after a fantastic Flat season over 150 points profit, our attention turns to all things tweed, hunt and the British will hope to be able to thwart the Irish challenge.

Our opening selection is Hector Javilex, who has a front running style suited for this handicap hurdle. Trained by Charlie Longsdon with Lilly Pinchin taking off 3lb. A solid enough run at Chepstow on its reappearance over shorter than its preferred 2mil 5 (as is today), let’s hope with the pipes now open, today is the day.

9/1 1.5PT ew

1345 – The Glancing Queen for Alan King is the selection, the trainer has a very positive return on returners over 150 days and when bringing those back in November, a meeting he focuses his efforts on historically, hence it is right to expect a big run.

9/2 2pt ew

1420: Pull Again Green for Fergal O Brien is the standout in the field, seen at the course in October for his return, running credibly and with speed that should give his rivals issues.

3/1 2.5PT ew

15:30 – Hubrisko is the talking horse for Willie Mullins, up in trip and with all the expectation that comes with a Rich Ricki/Mullins fancy.

I would not put you off a double with Pull Again Green.

16:00 – Rathmacknee for Nicky Henderson in the last is too big a price, one of the few proven over course and distance in the field. The trip up in class and therefore weight is noted but Nicky has a decent record with those in a 1st time handicap hurdle (nearly 20%) and Nico knows Cheltenham like the back of his hand.

10/1 1pt ew
