Happy New Year – 2022 was a hugely profitable year for the blog.

I’m off to HQ today for the racing.

Cheltenham
12:10 – Gentle Slopes – 9/2
A cheltenham regular, this being his 4th time at the course this season, proven on the ground and upped in distance today, the booking of Sean Bowen seems sensible to give our selection the best chance.

1245 – Fairnet – 7/2
Venetia Williams’ Fairnet is the selection, comfortable over distance, last see scoring at Chepstow, albeit carrying a higher weight today, a weight however carried to success at Chepstow last year, had the beating of returning rival, Secret Reprieve last time out and little reason to believe form reversed today.

13:55 – Happygolucky – 10/1
Kim Bailey has one of the few proven on the ground and over distance, chasing home the SP King George favourite, L’Homme Presse last time out, David Bass is aboard to use the front running style of the selection to full affect.

We will also back Brave Seasca for Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch as on my tissue they are the only two who have the form in what looks a very open race.

Brave Seasca 9/1

14:30 – Marie’s Rock – 10/3
3pt win
The quickest hose in the race, at the best weight and at a price you can have a bet, going for the 4 timer having won at both the main Irish and British festivals last season. We will also back Botox Has for Gary Moore as when last seen at the course the pace set in second over 3mil would get her more than in the mix today.

Botox Has 12/1

15:05 – Dolphin Square – 8/1
A winner last time out at Sandown, comfortable on the ground and over distance with a high (place) strike rate, David Maxwell, takes 3 off today. The Sandown performance was a good piece of work and I expected the horse to be around half the price.

Musselburgh

Minella Drama for Donald McCain and Brian Hughes looks set up to take this race, the pairing perform well together at the course (around 25% strike rate over course and distance and a 30% overall) , weaker competition today should assist and ensure a front running effort does the job.

7/2 1.5PT ew

1520 – Benson – 3/1
Sandy Thomson brings one down in class with Grand National, wining jockey, Ryan Mania aboard. Benson has been the perennial bridesmaid of late, placing 3 times in a row, this looks the perfect chance for a victory today, down in class and primed for a big run.

2.5PT win
