York

Good Morning and welcome to York’s Nunthrope Festival, as the Dante throws up many questions for the start of the season, these few days often hope to provide answers about what we have seen throughout the flat, 2 months on from Royal Ascot, the nights drawing in, National Hunt racing in the distance coming ever closer, fans of the flat however, feel free to resist, plenty to enjoy.

Two profitable weekends on the bounce is good news for members and we are hoping to continue our success over the next few days.

13:50

Look Out Louis is our opening selection of the meeting, Julie Camacho tuned the horse up to perform at Chester and it is clear the horse was then tucked away for today. Ryan Sexton returns to ride taking off 5lbs ensuring the weight is less than when winning last time out. Camacho from a small sample size has a nigh on 20% strike rate with last time out winners and the price looks far too big – especially as she is at 27% for the last 14 days.

Dakota Gold is another selection in this frantic 5f handicap, down in weights, the old-timer (8 y/o) for the in-form Michael Dods (who saves his best for York) may have another today.

The horse has been successful over course and distance and is carrying significantly less than when last season at Ripon. Dropped back in trip today, we have seen how useful the horse is over 5f, with the Newcastle run on a very different surface a promising speed-figure.

Look Out Louis 16/1 1pt ew

Dakota Gold 8/1 1pt ew

15:00 – Secret State could well be the banker of the meeting, carrying significantly less weight and going for the five-timer, if not over-raced he has the beating of all of these, especially Deauville Legend.

15:35 – Baaeeed is meant to be facing his toughest challenge to date, we have heard this every time he has raced, he is today, of course, going for the 9-timer. Native Trail 2000 Guineas fav and Irish 2000 winner threatens, as does Mishriff, albeit he needs to not fall out of the stalls once again.

He should win and win well.

Double with Secret State if you fancy a play but this is not advised as such.

16:10 – Alfred Boucher deserves to be favourite for Ian Williams and William Buick. Two promising Chester runs this season post the switch from Henry Candy, today should be the day he gets his head in front.

The booking of Buick is significant.

Alfred Boucher 5/1 1pt ew

16:45 – We will back 2 in the Fillies Handicap, Sandbeck and Guilded. The latter dropped back in trip at Ayr to success in June. The former, is a 5f specialist, going for the 3-timer and is down in weight.

Sandbeck 7/1 1pt ew

Guilded 12/1 1pt ew
