Welcome to Glorious Goodwood, we of course had a spectacular Saturday, just gone, with 70+ points profit on the day, let’s hope by the end of this week we have added more to the pot.
1350 – Soto Sizzler is our opening selection, the horse ran well up in class at Sandown last time out but this is more his level, the shrewd booking of William Buick who operates at over a 25% strike-rate over course and distance will be to our advantage, no doubt held-up to be produced at the death we can expect to be in the mix come the finish. We will also back the favourite, Brilliant Light for Godolphin, more likely to lead than be at the back, SBS may just have the answer to this race with his recent race at York standing out on the clock, speed-figures wise.
Soto Sizzler 16/1 2pt ew
Brilliant Light 6/1 2pt ew
15:00 – Pogo, going for the hat-trick today having been successful at Haydock and last time out Newmarket, down in weight and at a price that cannot be ignored, we have seen how effective the horse can be, when popped out by Shoemark and kept up to it’s work in front. Pogo and Lord off the Lodge (drawn in 4 alongside) can get out and get going and with a little bit of luck, our selection will be too hot for catching.
Pogo 7/1 3pt ew
15:35 – The Gold Cup is one to watch, I do not see Stradivarius turning it round but I would be happy to see it happen. Trueshan, ground dependent, should have the beating of them all, if primed like he was at Newcastle.
16:10 – Celsius, is our only play in the 5f handicap, up in class but again going for the hat-trick, it has a plum draw from 6 and should be too much for these, stone of destiny drawn alongside is a danger on the clock, but the three-timer should very much be in play today.
Celsius 11/2 2.5pt ew
17:55 – Crazy Luck is carrying plenty at 9st 11lb but has done so before, namely when carrying 10st and successful at Newbury at the end of June. Harry Davies take 5lb off and that could prove invaluable for this held-up type who likes to weave through traffic at the last opportunity. Our selection is down in class today and the trainer, Rod Millman has a 20% strike-rate with last time out winners.
Crazy Luck 5/1 2.5pt ew
Double – Celsius & Crazy Luck 37/1 1.5pt ew
