A decent day yesterday, one winner, one non-runner and one finishing last, profit all the same on the day and the suggested double also did the business albeit not a selection.
As to today, King George day at Ascot.
Ascot
King George – 1535
Westover looked fantastic in the Irish Derby and the weight allowance against these seasoned Group 1 performers will be a further positive, the same can be said for Emily Upjohn as we will see just how unlucky that Oaks ride really was.
As for our selection, it stands out at the prices, oh so obviously, Broome, for Moore and O’Brien, hot off their Royal Ascot success, this horse has international pedigree and a big ride is expected.
Sadly due to the reduced field numbers, we are only playing with two-places, hence it is not a big a bet as if we had more runners.
Broome 14/1 1.5pt ew
13:50 – A no bet race for us, one to watch with so many newcomers and unexposed types, Lezoo fancied to bounce back after a second at Newmarket a few weeks back.
14:25 – Oscula, proven on the going, at course and over distance, a repeat of either the Sandown and/or Carlisle form would be more than enough for these today.
Oscula 7/1 2pt ew
16:45 – it will be a Saga without Frankie, which those of who backed him at Royal Ascot will appreciate, however it is not a bet for us today at the price. Tempus for the Watson/Doyle partnership will be, the front running style will suit, having to give plenty of weight but ran well at the Royal Meeting and is the price play today.
Tempus 7/1 2pt ew
17:20 – Call Me Ginger at a big price, with the amateur taking off 5lb further, the horse is nigh on 2 stone lighter when last seen on track ,not disgraced at Ayr at all this season, seen 5 times at the course, Jim Goldie may have just snuck one into this race, which looks very winnable.
Call Me Ginger 14/1 1pt ew
Newmarket
15:07 – Lethal Levi looks solid at the top of the market, no bet but maybe one for you and your doubles/trebles.
York
14:40 – One in the dash, Gale Force Maya, looks very well primed for today, drawn well,a good front runner. The horse is proven over course and distance and Connor Beasley has over a 25% strike rate when jocked up at York.
Gale Force Maya 15/2 2.5pt ew
15:50 – Florida Filly stands out over 5f and looks like wanting more when last seen successfully completing a two-timer at Hamilton.
Very well weighted today and a big run is expected for Ian Jardine, who should have the horse primed to get out and not be for catching.
Florida Filly 11/2 2pt ew
Double: Lethal Levi (1507) and Gale Force Maya (1440) 20/1 1.25pt ew
We have Goodwood next week to look forward to and then we will round up where we are for the season with a review into the updated P&L.
