Morning, decent action on what is a cooler end to the week than how we started.

Racing today of interest over at Ascot, York and Newmarket in the early evening.

Ascot

Plenty of newcomers in the 13:55 and 14:30 making it a watching brief, as was shown yesterday in the Group 1 over at Sandown, it plays to wait and see how the form follows through into reality.

That being said, the fav, Clochette (1430) and again, Mostly Cloudy in the 15:05 seem very solid and could be doubled although not an official selection.

16:15 – Carnival Zain will be our only play at Ascot today, Micky Hammond got a good tune when last seen at Chester a few weeks back and the trainer/jockey combination on last time out winners is very handsome (22% and 32% respectively). Anticipate a front running ride, in what is a very keen field with the pace coming from Global Esteem and Spirited Guest. Miss Becky Smith is the most established of the Lady Amateur’s in the field and should steer this one home for us today.

Carnival Zain 10/3 2.5pt ew

York
19:25 – A chance is taken on the returning Via Sistina not seen since last Winter but she ran with promise at Newmarket in October after a solid run last Summer at Goodwood. The price makes it a bet and we are taking a chance on Joseph Tuitie having her tuned up from the off but what cannot be disputed is on the eye she looked the part at times last year and should not not be the price.

Via Sistina 11/1 1pt ew

19:55 – Spirit Dancer looks interesting but the weight may well be too prohibitive and it is therefore not a bet.

Newmarket

19:40 – Ice House for Haggis and Fallon is our opening bet at HQ. Up in class and up in weight, Haggis has been finding success of late with returners, well drawn in 5 this horse has a hold-up style and can let Rechercher set the fractions from 6 and be prominent at the finish when it matters.

Ice house 5/1 2pt ew

Good luck.
