What a way to kick off the weekend, the blog provided 37.5 points profit yesterday, a bumper day, that and we were a neck away from landing the win side of a double and a treble which would have made it a over a 100 point day.
Winners yesterday included: Forza Orta (5/1), Flotus (11/4), First Ruler (4/1)
Placed efforts: Swilcan Bridge (2nd 14/1), Northern Express (2nd 11/4 by a neck), Topanticipation (6/1).
If you were on yesterday, your support always appreciated with the link at on the frontpage/homepage.
As to today, more racing of interest at Newmarket, Ascot, York and Chester.
Newmarket
14:05 – Truly Acclaimed is our opening selection at HQ, John Quinn may just be onto something with this filly, nigh on identical on my ratings to rival, who reprieves today, Golden Spice. This is a race which favours a front running style and Golden Spice should set up our selection with plenty to aim at come the end. Kidwah opened as favourite and may well step up, however will need to show more speed to catch our selection, from what is often a more held up position.
Truly Acclaimed 9/2 2pt ew
14:40 – Jimi Hendrix showed plenty of speed at Royal Ascot, for Ralph Beckett. Rob Hornby, who was unfairly maligned for his ride on Westover in the Derby, rides and is drawn well from stall 5. Hornby will want our selection up with the pace but our selection stands out in that department and should have too much for these today.
Jimi Hendrix 3/1 3.5pt ew
15:15 – No single bet, Lion of War however is preferred over Victory Dance.
15:50 – The Bunbury Cup, a frantic 7f down in the blistering sunshine, not a bad spectacle, as to our primary selection, we will back Jumby, the booking of Christophe Soumillion is significant just a week on from landing the Eclipse at Sandown. The step up to 7f after racing at 6f for much of this season, should not be an issue for a horse who has proven himself over distance before, Soumillion will need to use all of his guile to present the horse through the field, as Jumby likes to be held up and presented at the death.
Silent Film is our second selection for Godolphin, Appleby and Buick, something I seem to keep writing and thankfully seems to keep working, well weighted, the stats for the partnership leap out and the price is spot on.
Jumby 15/2 2pt ew
Silent Film 20/1 1pt ew
16:25 – This all feels very familiar, a Saturday where we back, Creative Force, preferred over the Australian horse, Artorius and fellow Godolphin rival, Naval Crown (who we backed alongside our selection on that bumper, Saturday at Royal Ascot). Creative Force has a 75% strike rate over course and distance, the trainer/jockey combination is over 30% over C&D. Perfect Power may just find the undulations of the July course to his displeasure and on speed ratings has a bit to find on the Godolphin pair.
Creative Force 11/2 2.5pt ew
York
16:05 – Rogue Bear was unlucky last time out over course and distance, trading lower than 50% in running, well weighted today, his hold up style should be used to full effect by, jockey, Stevie Donohoe. We will also back, First View, for Goldphin and Saaed Bin Suroor, carrying nigh on a stone and a half less than when last seen, if the relative feathers on his back workout as desired, he should be in the mix come the conclusion.
Rogue Bear 7/1 1.5pt ew
First View 16/1 1pt ew
Chester
15:43 – We were on Oscula last weekend, finishing 2nd, at 8/1, a big run is anticipated today and a win for George Boughey, the fillies allowance skews the race in our favour over market rival, Laneqash who is carrying over half a stone heavier. Oscula, will get out and will not be for catching.
Oscula 10/3 3.5pt ew
Multiples
Truly Acclaimed & Jimi Hendrix 18/1 2pt ew
Jimi Hendrix & Oscula 14/1 3pt ew
Treble them all 80/1 1pt ew
