, what a thrilling National, with the nation captivated by a real heartwarming story, with Sam Waley-Cohen retiring victorious on 50/1, Noble Yeats.
As to our own selections, only Longhouse Poet hit the frame, his return however covered all of our stakes in the race. LP ran with particular credit throughout, navigating the obstacles, as over half the field failed to finish, he was however outpaced by being left up-front for a while and the pace plainly came from behind as Noble Yeats and Any Second Now, finishing second again, locked horns past the elbow.
A positive Aintree, profitable once again with fantastic opening day and whilst we did not take the spoils of the National, we advised on the race prior and SAM BROWN landed for us at 28/1 (should he have been in the big race?) with us also in the same race having Killer Kane at 10/1 3rd.
We will move away from the Jumps season, with only the big Sandown meeting to worry about at the end of the month, the Guineas meeting is not too far away when it really all begins in earnest.
We will have selections however for both Newmarket and Cheltenham this week however.
As an aside, as the transition from Jumps to Flat occurs, we will quieten down until the Guineas with advice unlikely to be as regular, however, please check the blog daily and set an alert as I would not want anyone keen to miss out.
If you are going to play the Flat this early on in the season, take it easy, wait for the form to settle, remember you are unlikely to have any idea how a horse has faired over the winter, from 2 to 3 and/or behind closed doors, keep in mind, especially when playing at the shorter end of the market.
We will also in this period, review our return from a P&L and ROI perspective and have the spreadsheet verified and up to date back to when we began, for your perusal.
