Friday 4 June 2021

Good morning, welcome, Epsom is finally here, the Derby is tomorrow and whilst nothing like the race it looked a mere 72 hours ago, it will still be a must watch, however today is Oaks day and after a couple weeks off, let’s get right to the selections.

(The P&L will be updated post Epsom, we are a good few hundred points ahead since 1 January 2021 and will share everything up to and including this coming weekend with it being maintained weekly thereafter)

Epsom

14:00 – OSCULA is the selection for the George Boughey yard, commanding a strike-rate of 30% since the season began (his figures with newcomers were eye-popping at one stage), our selection somewhat floats under the radar and on speed-figures is the match of the favourite, Dairerin trained by Michael Bell. Our selection is drawn well from stall 2 and should make the running alongside Sienna Bonnie, when out in front he should be hard to pass.

OSCULA 11/2 2.5 point each-way

14:35 – Irish Admiral, sits atop of the market for the Haggis yard, the price is far too skinny (6/4 at writing) and he is worth taking on. STORTING is the obvious starting point for Mick Channon and James Doyle, down in the weights, however let us hope he is ridden a tad more prominently today to ensure hitting the frame in-front, Mostawaa is also a selection for Heather Main and Martin Dwyer.

STORTING 11/2 2 point each-way

MOSTAWAA 7/1 1.5 point each-way

Double OSCULA & STORTING – 1 point each way 41/1

15:10 – Japan looked something like his old self at Chester earlier in the season, however the eye is drawn to Albaflora, proven over distance and with Frankie on board, his win on soft at Ascot last month was particularly eye-catching and on better ground he is fancied to kick on for Ralph Beckett and the team at Kimpton Down.

Albaflora 10/1 0.5 pt each-way

15:45 – DREAM WITH ME down in the weights, for Mark Johnston is the selection, well drawn from 5 and likely to make the running alongside Victory Chime, he is receiving weight all over the shop from the other runners, his recent successes at Ayr are incredibly noteworthy.

DREAM WITH ME 11/2 2pt each way

Treble with OSCULA, STORTING, DREAM WITH ME 270/1 0.5 point each way

16:30 – THE CAZOO, OAKS.

In a wide open affair, if you believe the O’Brien fivesome are beatable, DUBAI FOUNTAIN stands out with her win at Chester being arguably the best piece of bare form we have seen from all of these this season, well drawn from 6 expect the running to be made and much like the Guineas if the others can get away from the O’Brien fancies early, they may be hard to pass.

Saffron Beach is also a selection.

DUBAI FOUNTAIN 9/1 1.5 point each way

SAFFRON BEACH 12/1 1 point each way

17:10 MEU AMOR is the fancy to beat the well regarded, favourite, Mehmento (for Watkins and Doyle), having shown fantastic speed on heavy ground last season and having proven to perform well on a better surface, the recent Lingfield spin was a good warm-up for this one.

MEU AMOR 7/2 2 point each way

Double with OSCULA 27/1 1 point each way

17:40 – in the final race of the day, two selections, Rhoscolyn and Paws for Thought.

RHOSCOLYN 4/1 2.5 point each way

PAWS FOR THOUGHT 8/1 1 point each way
