A day of near misses, Mostawaa in the opener being defeated late-on at Ascot and then a 22/1 shot partnered by the excellent Ryan Moore denying another. Nice to see Clan Des Obeaux get ahead in the Gold Cup to restore some minor sense of pride for the British against Ireland after a torrid Cheltenham.
Placed money keeps us handsome and happily in profit for the last week all the same, hence we continue with racing at Punchestown, Chelmsford and Southwell of interest.

15:40 – These huge-field handicaps hurt the head to analyse, however I have approached this in a rather straight forward manner, any horse who has not placed on the ground 50% or more of the time having had 2 runs on it is out, same as well for any horse who has failed to place over distance adopting the same process.
This narrowed the field to 4 runners, Ena Baie, Rock Chicka, Shaketry and Youngnedofthehill.
Rock Chicka and Shaketry are the selections being better handicapped than the other pair.
