Back, after the break, a self-enforced break, work was rather mental for a few weeks and I was beginning to become frustrated with the weather cancelling racing, ensuring trainer plans were needing to be changed and the form seemingly had gone to pot.
However, the weather has begun to improve, Nicky has finally got a run into Champ, credit to Newbury for rescheduling and the Festival is but a mere 3 weeks away.
We will begin to step-up our selections ahead of the Festival and really kick-on with what we hope will be a profitable end to the Jumps season ahead of the return of the Flat, the relaxing of lockdown measures and plenty of profits.
Let’s review the P&L (a poor end to January did not help, however we were cursed with over-staking, now corrected…)
P&L: -14.6 POINTS (minus)

However, with the better racing ahead, plenty of sensible staking we can turn this round and return to the January highs and kick-on.
Southwell
13:45 – Nothing of interest.
CARLISLE
14:10 – OVERCOURT for Sandy Thompson, should use his front-running style to full effect today down at the bottom of the weights, Sandy had a winner over the weekend and plenty to like about that performance, a slight concern may be Ryan Mania only ever having one-winner at course and distance, however the horse has placed well on the ground and over distance and has hit speed-figures that should trouble all of these carrying higher weight.
The favourite, Eternally Yours, looked good at Aintree in December but is carrying a full stone and six pounds more than when last seen and is to be taken on and avoided.
OVERCOURT 11/2 1.5PT EW
14:40 – ECLAIR MAG won at 80/1 when seen last time out, penalised but the handicapper has penalised him, putting up to top-weight, however despite this, he is one of the only performs to at least place over distance in the last 12 months, the same is also true of BIGIRONISHIP.
Orrisdale as favourite, has failed over distance 3 times and at the price sets the market for something bigger to come through.
ECLAIR MAG 11/2 1PT EW
BIGIRONONHISHIP 9/1 1PT EW
Wolverhampton
17:10 – DILIGENT LADY looked solid when winning at Lingfield in early February carrying higher-weight, drawn well and looks a solid each way play, the favourite Futuristic is plenty dangerous however, winning well carrying a much higher weight, hence the each-way play on our selections with smaller odds.
DILIGENT LADY 4/1 2PT EW
Enjoy – let’s hope we are back in profit sooner rather than later ready for HQ.
