Cheltenham sadly a casualty of the bad weather leaving us with Doncaster and Lingfield on the All-Weather.
Doncaster
13:30 – All eyes on Shiskin, arguably Britain’s best horse, in the 13:30 at Doncaster, he should win and win well, ahead of the Festival.
A chance is taken however on Eldorado Allen, the Tizzard yard are somewhat improving after a difficult 20/21 season, he is 12/1 at the time of writing, a distance winner and a winner over both Stormy Ireland at Newcastle and at Cheltenham, before a less than ideal run at Sandown on the Tingle Creek card.
His hold-up style may not suit, but one would hope that gives him the chance, to pick a few of these off, on the final circuit.
ELDORADO ALLEN 12/1 1PT EW
14:05 – I am going to take a punt on the market being wrong about which is the best Henderson horse, Marie’s Rock has never run anything to like the standard of Floressa and her victory at Newbury set’s her apart from the field, a less than favourable performance in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton (on-first glance) would still trouble the speed-figures of the favourite.
Nico is on board and Marie’s Rock has a first time tongue tie in, highlighting she’s not quite been right at home, Henderson horses have a horrid track-record first time out with gear on.
FLORESSA 11/4 3PT EW
14:40 – Kim Bailey and David Bass partnered to great success last week on First Flow in the Clarence House and BOBHOPEORNOHOPE up in class, ticks plenty of boxes today, with the trainer jockey combination at Doncaster hitting a 33% strike-rate. His front running style should set the scene and his run at Exeter in early November when beating Ask a Honey Bee would be more than enough for all but one of these, namely, Emir Sacree.
Henderson commented in the week that he didn’t think much of his novice hurdle crop in the week (I’m paraphrasing), however his performance first time out when winning at Ascot was something to behold, if able to perform to that standard today, we may have something special ahead of the Festival.
BOBHOPEORNOHOPE 6/1 2PT EW
EMIR SACREE 13/2 2PT EW
15:15 – In the big Chase meeting of the day, we go triple handed with some outsiders.
Give Me A Copper for Paul Nicholls, looked in fine form when returning after nigh on a year out when finishing second at the course to another selection Rocky’s Treasure, before Christmas.
He is off the same weight today up in class and is the wrong price at 9/1.
The same can be said for Rocky’s Treasure, his front running style should be used to full affect today, hopefully setting a gruelling pace, knocking back a few of the well fancied types.
Mister Malarky for the Tizzard’s is at the top of the weights, unsurprisingly for his win at Ascot last time out on Heavy, he is up 7 pounds for that win, but is equally 22/1, a far too big a price.
GIVE ME A COPPER 9/1 1PT EW
ROCKY’S TREASURE 18/1 0.5PT EW
MISTER MALARKY 22/1 0.5PT EW
Lingfield (All-Weather)
14:55-RENARDEAU is given over a stone by the favourite, Pirate King for trainer, Ali Stronge, a winner over course and distance, setting at the time (March last year) a speed-figure better than the favourite, at 6/1 well-drawn in a small-field.
If there is any weakness in the well fancied favourite, out of Farhh then let us hope we can capitalise.
RENARDEAU 6/1 1.5PT EW
15:30 – Mohareb has performed well up in class, winning a couple of weeks back, he is handicapped accordingly but there is still much to like, despite a less than ideal draw from stall 5. The Course and Distance winner, Catch My Breath, deserves to be favourite, very well weighted and aiming for the hat-trick.
MOHAREB 11/2 1.5PT EW
Good luck.
