Good day yesterday, the 3 point each-way landed on Highland Dress in our first of the day (14:00) at 7/2. This meant whatever happened we were up for the day. The Somerset National over at Wincanton was a cracker with The Kings Writ getting pipped at the death, looking the winner until the dour-stayer Dawson City got up, lovely 11/1 each-way all the same.
Ffos Las is off and we all hope Haydock goes ahead on Saturday, alongside Ascot.
Lingfield (All-Weather)
14:35 – Five-runners for a Class 2 over 6f, Richard Fahey is gearing up for his early attack on the Flat in a few months, BRIAN THE SNAIL has been running very consistently since the end of October and off a good handicap mark.
Fizzy Feet for the in-form David Loughnane yard (near 25% strike rate over the last month or so) is simply the wrong price when also at the bottom of the weights.
The favourite, Above for Archie Watson, is very well drawn, however let us hope Brian the Snail can front-run and set a pace, Above cannot counted with.
BRIAN THE SNAIL 10/3 2PT EW
FIZZY FEET 11/1 0.5PT EW
Musselburgh
14:25 – nothing of interest (the night before), save as Goobinator but not at top-weight and the price.
Chelmsford
18:15 – LORD RIDDIFORD for John Quinn has a 40% plus strike rate over course and distance, the trainer has a 25% strike rate at the track, over 5f and as long as jockey, Jason Hart, gets out and to the front, he should set blistering fractions from the front.
Leodis Dream for David Loughnane much like our earlier selection at Lingfield is a choice on price and due to the form of the yard, he should also get up with the pace and it would be no surprise to see our two, have the lions share of the race as they turn the bend.
Tone the Barone is an obvious fancy, up in class, however last seen at Ascot in September, he would be a watching brief at this point, he loves Chelmsford though, running up a three-timer between February and June last year, however his speed-figures do not compare to our fancies, so let us hope he is over bet on the basis of prior success.
LEODIS DREAM 6/1 1PT EW
LORD RIDDIFORD 3/1 2PT EW (REVIEW 9AM – taken at that price)
19:15 – AMAYSMONT again for Fahey, drawn well, won over course and distance only 14 days back, his speed figure on that day would trouble these, his hold-up style is of some concern but if the price is right, above 3s we will get involved and potentially double up with Lord Riddiford in the 18:15.
The fave Secret Victory is drawn well but was once meant for better things, at the price the lightly raced, Godolphin selection is of no interest but he could be going forward the best of the bunch.
AMAYSMONT – 100/30 (check market at 9am) – 2PT EW taken at 9am
Double: Lord Riddiford (18:15) & Amaysmont (19:15) – 1.5PT EW DOUBLE
Will return to all selections where it states “review” at 9am.
Update: reviewed 09:05 and all prices taken as above
