Tuesday 19 January 2021

Nothing yesterday, write it off as part of the experience, onwards and upwards, especially after the (positive) review of the P&L.

Fun and games over at Ayr, as Strong Economy traded at 800.00 on the Betfair Exchange in running before prevailing in the 13:55.

Madness.

A few races for us to review today, first in the South-West before heading to Norfolk.

Exeter

13:45 – A five-runner affair to begin and a Novices’ Chase over 3m 54y , you’ve got to enjoy the game to stay that long, Full Back trained by Gary Moore proved that when wining over fences in December.

In-fact, Full Back is the only horse with form over the bigger fences, however both Welsh Saint (very much bred for it) and Dolphin Square could provide a challenge.

Cashmoll for the Noel Williams yard at 50/1 is one of those where the horse is simply too big a price, whilst not showing much over 8 point-to-point races over a similar distance to today’s affair, he’s immediately in a Class 3 affair hence someone, somewhere must think something.

CASHMOLL 50/1 0.25PT EW (night before pre-9am)

& taken at 40/1 another 0.25 PT EW after 9am (to ensure B.O.G. On half stake)

A further 0.25PT EW stake to be reviewed post 9am tomorrow morning (day of race) – update: above.

FakenhamCANCELLED BAD WEATHER

13:55 – Crossgalesfamegame is the right favourite, currently 6/4 and 4 out of his last 5 performances dating back to December 2019 would be enough to trouble all of this field, however, he had a nigh on 300 day break before returning in Class 2 company at Wincanton and again at Cheltenham (in December) when placing in the International meeting.

However, he will be over a stone heavier today, down in class and therefore surely is worth taking on (having only ever placed once when carrying above 11.0).

Dream Berry and Who’s My Jockey both currently 8/1 (night before) sit at the top of the weights, with both yards in-form, Jonjo O’Neill (30% strike rate last 14 days) and Richard Hobson (20%) respectively, the former, just over a year ago was performing to a level far-above anything this field has shown in a Class 1 at Cheltenham.

On return last year, at Market Rasen, his figures were even better however two poor efforts at Newbury and Sandown towards the end of last year, perhaps make him unattractive to some. The front running style of Who’s My Jockey, if used to full advantage, should ensure a decent clip for both the favourite (likely to be held up) and our other selection Dream Berry.

As ever they are selections on price, however currently at 8/1 , I will wait until the market forms post 9am and make a decision whether to get involved.

TO REVIEW (post 9am) – CANCELLED BAD WEATHER

14:25 – In what looks like a match-bet between Minella Encore (11/8) and Lithic (85/40) , presence would be for the latter at a bigger price and having run in defeat at Market Rasen to a rating that the favourite has not got close to in any performance over the last 3 years. Corrany and Myplaceatmidnight both have something to prove after failing to finish last time out.
