Tuesday 12 January 2021

A fun day yesterday, nothing much happened in the first race for us, with the favourite Flagrant Delitiep scoring over at Hereford in the 14:20 , Subcontinent however ran into a place returning us a small profit on that selection.

However, how right we were to take on the even-money favourite and high-class performer, Bangkok in the 18:45 at Wolverhampton, with Hollie Doyle, getting up on the line on FELIX, to score for us at a nice price.

Enjoy

As to today, a few races for us, at Class 3 or above over at Wetherby and again on the All-Weather in the evening at Newcastle.

Wetherby

14:05 – THE KING OF MAY stands out as an obvious bet at the prices, 11/2 taken, with a slight risk to be noted on the ground, with his very best performances coming on Soft, however, he is down in class after performing credibly in Class 2 company at the end of last year.

The favourite, Eclair D’Ainy, proved at Chepstow towards the end of November he relishes the heavy stuff when leading from the font, hence he is a worthy favourite.

BILLINGSLEY is also a small play with his front-running style and love of the thick stuff leading him to land a hat-trick around this time last year, if he is in that form he is likely to be in the mix come the finish

BILLINGSLEY 9/1 1PT EW

14:35 – Nothing of interest with the market falling apart slightly with the removal of Bear Ghylls an impressive winner at the weekend.

Newcastle

16:00 – SANAADH is a selection, based upon what he produced around about this time last year over course & distance, his speed figure back on 19 February 2020 would out-strip all in the field, however some rather stop-start performances later on in the year did not show this horse to it’s best. Let us hope Michael Wigham has him ticking over with Joe Fanning on board.

DAWAALEEB is another selection, with the market set by the favourite, Diocles of Rome currently 9/4, last time out he found the race not to his suiting at Chelmsford but as a course and distance winner, drawn well in stall 5, let us hope he can get out, get to the front and set a pace others struggle to catch.

SANAADH 7/1 1PT EW

DAWAALEEB 7/1 1PT EW

17:00 Another fast-track qualifier for the All-Weather Final’s Day at Lingfield, whilst up in class ROYAL BIRTH has loved it round Lingfield of late, scoring both at the end of 2020 and at the start of 2021, 6lb lighter than his last two runs, at level weights (9.0) at 6/1 he is too big a price to pass-up producing speed-figures comparative to the favourite, who himself is a hold-up horse and like our selection doesn’t have an ideal draw. I would expect both to overcome these hinderances and to be fighting it out at the end with Ornate the one to watch if he sets anything like the pace he did when coming second to our selection just before Christmas of 2020.

Royal Birth 6/1 1.5PT EW
