Tuesday 5 January 2021

First day back, done, hopefully Christmas and New Year doesn’t already feel a million years away, we await the announcement from Boris Johnson at 8pm on Monday evening (time of writing 20:01 on Monday, he’s late again…) as to a further tightening of COVID restrictions.

As to the racing, we played in three races and two of which showed promise, in our first race of the day, the 1310 at Lingfield, Verne Castle at the bottom of the weights, ran valiantly to be beaten by a short-head by the favourite, Royal Birth. The each-way money ensured we were up after one race.

Sadly, the 1325 at Fakenham did not go as desired, our two selections (at the top of the weights) were never really in the race, making a few mistakes along the way and were soon ridden and tailed off.

Finally, in the last race of the day for us at Wolverhampton, the 1820, Hollie Doyle set a blistering pace on Dancing Feet, however Amniarix justified favouritism and soon sped past, making quite the impression taking the all-weather championship fast-track qualifier.

Profit & Loss for the day: -3 points lost on the day.

Total P&L: 11.4 points profit

Point to note, all selections will be recorded at the price quoted and taken, I cannot achieve Best Odds Guaranteed with most bookmakers, hence why Verne Castle recorded at 8/1 e/w and not the SP of 10/1.

Sadly no racing, Class 3 or above today due to Ludlow being abandoned due to snow falling in the West Midlands over the last few days and the cold-spell continuing.

I will look to do a racing review post in the coming days should we get continued cancellations, where I highlight some of the most promising performances over the Christmas period.
